For a long time it had seemed to me that life was about to begin - real life. But there was always some obstacle in the way, something to be gotten through first, some unfinished business, time still to be served, a debt to be paid. Then life would begin. At last it dawned on me that these obstacles were my life.
--Alfred D Souza.
Speak up for those
who cannot speak for themselves,
for the rights of all who are destitute.
Speak up and judge fairly;
defend the rights of the poor and needy.

I am certain of nothing but of the holiness
of the heartís affections, and the truth of the Imagination.
--John Keats (1795-1821)
"The paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings, but shorter tempers; wider freeways, but narrower viewpoints; we spend more, but have less; we buy more, but enjoy it less.
We have bigger houses and smaller families; more conveniences, but less time; we have more degrees, but less sense; more knowledge but less judgment; more experts, but more problems; more medicine, but less wellness. We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values.
We talk too much, love too seldom, and hate too often.
We’ve learned how to make a living, but not a life; we’ve added years to life, not life to years. We’ve been all the way to the moon and back, but have trouble crossing the street to meet the new neighbor.
We’ve conquered outer space, but not inner space; we’ve cleaned up the air, but polluted the soul; we’ve split the atom, but not our prejudice.
We have higher incomes, but lower morals; we’ve become long on quantity, but short on quality.
These are the times of tall men, and short character; steep profits, and shallow relationships. These are the times of world peace, but domestic warfare; more leisure, but less fun; more kinds of food, but less nutrition.
These are days of two incomes, but more divorce; of fancier houses, but broken homes. It is a time when there is much in the show window and nothing in the stockroom; a time when technology can bring this letter to you, and a time when you can choose either to make a difference...or just hit delete. Pass it on.

an adult is in a poor position ever to learn love.

Let it be you who leans above me
On my last day
Let it be you who shut my eyelids
Forever and aye.
Say a "Good-night" as you have said it
All of these years
With the old look, with the old whisper
And without tears
You will know then all that in silence
You always knew,
Though I have loved, I loved no other
As I love you.
- Sarah Teasdale -
There is great comfort in knowing
that those who love you love enough
to take the responsibility
for marking out the permissible.
--Thornton Wilder
By three methods we may learn wisdom: First, by reflection, which is noblest; Second, by imitation, which is easiest; and third by experience, which is the bitterest.
--Confucius
Fear grows out of the things we think; it lives in our minds. Compassion grows out of the things we are, and lives in our hearts.

to giving your life meaning.
If it doesn't, why are you doing it?

I have nothing new to teach the world. Truth and nonviolence are as old as the hills. All I have done is to try experiments in both on as vast a scale as I could.

Whereon the Savior of the world was born.

It is a revered thing to see an ancient castle not in decay,
but how much more it is to behold an ancient family
which has stood against the waves and weathers of time.

The only way to fly, therefore,
is to embrace one another.

After enlightenment -
chop wood, carry water.

There is more to life than increasing its speed.

The grass is greener on God's side.

There is no difficulty that enough love will not conquer.
There is no disease that enough love will not heal.
No door that enough love will not open.
No gulf that enough love will not bridge.
No wall that enough love will not throw down.
And no sin that enough love will not redeem.
It makes no difference how deeply seated may be the trouble.
How hopeless the outlook.
How muddled the tangle.
How great the mistake.
A sufficient realization of love will dissolve it all.
And if you could love enough,
you would be the happiest and most powerful person in the world.
--Emmet Fox
If tomorrow starts without me...
When tomorrow starts without me and I’m not there to see, if the sun should rise and find your eyes all filled with tears for me; I wish so much you wouldn’t cry the way you did today, while thinking of the many things we didn’t get to say.
I know how much you love me, as much as I love you, and each time that you think of me, I know you’ll miss me too.
But when tomorrow starts without me, please try to understand, that an angel came and called my name, and took me by the hand.
And said my place was ready, in heaven far above, and that I’d have to leave behind all those I dearly love.
But as I turned to walk away, a tear fell from my eye. For all my life, I’d always thought, I didn’t want to die. I had so much to live for, so much left yet to do. It seemed almost impossible, that I was leaving you.
I thought of all the yesterdays, the good ones and the bad. I thought of all the love we shared, and all the fun we had.
If I could relive yesterday, just even for a while, I’d say good-bye and kiss you, and maybe see you smile.
But then I fully realized, that this could never be. For emptiness and memories, would take the place of me.
And when I thought of worldly things, I might miss come tomorrow, I thought of you, and when I did, my heart was filled with sorrow.
But when I walked through heaven’s gates, I felt so much at home. When God looked down and smiled at me, from His great and golden throne.
He said, “This is eternity, and all I’ve promised you. Today your life on earth is past, but here life starts anew.”
“I promise no tomorrow, but today will always last. And since each day’s the same way, there’s no longing for the past.”
“You have been so faithful, so trusting and so true. Though there were times you did some things you knew you shouldn’t do.” “But you have been forgiven and now at last you’re free. So won’t you come and take my hand and share my life with me?”
So when tomorrow starts without me, don’t think we’re far apart. For every time you think of me, I’m right here, in your heart.
I received via email being circulated... The story behind this poem is as follows:
A few weeks ago I talked to a woman whose ex-husband’s wife had just been killed in an auto accident. She was very, very well liked, the school systems shut down for her funeral and it was on the news and so on.
On the day the teachers came back to work, they found this poem in their e-mail that the deceased woman had sent on Friday before she left school.
The more deeply you understand people,
the more you will appreciate them,
the more reverent you will feel about them.
To tough the soul of another human being
is to walk on holy ground.
--Stephen R. Covey
Love is like breathing,
you take it in and you let it out.
-- Wally Lamb
You cannot do a kindness too soon,
for you never know how soon it will be too late.
-- Ralph Waldo Emerson
People come into your life for a reason, a season, or a lifetime. When you figure out which one it is, you will know what to do for each person.
When someone is in your life for a REASON. . .
It is usually to meet a need you have expressed. They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support, to aid you physically, emotionally, or spiritually. They may seem like a godsend, and they are! They are there for the reason you need them to be. Then, without any wrong doing on your part, at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end. Sometimes they die. Sometimes they walk away.
Sometimes they act up and force you to take a stand. What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled, their work is done. The prayer you sent up has been answered. And now it is time to move on.
When people come into your life for a SEASON. . .
Because your turn has come to share, grow, or learn. They bring you an experience of peace, or make you laugh. They may teach you something you have never done. They usually give you an unbelievable amount of joy. Believe it! It is real! But, only for a season.
LIFETIME relationships teach you lifetime lessons; things you must build upon in order to have a solid emotional foundation. Your job is to accept the lesson, love the person, and put what you have learned to use in all other relationships and areas of your life. It is said that love is blind but friendship is clairvoyant.
Thank you for being a part of my life !; whether it be for a reason, a season or a lifetime...--Author Unknown
